A horse racing is traditionally held in Bac Ha during the lunar New Year.

This time, the festival included cultural activities such as the Bac Ha plum festival, the Chay River festival, and a food fair. It was a chance to explore the cultural and tourist potential of a town in a mountainous region. Thousands of local and foreign visitors participated.

One of the highlights of the festival was the casting the Viet Nam’s biggest pan measuring 1m deep and 3m across. This pan was used to boil thang co, or horse meat stew, a traditional dish of the Mong people.
